Sigil was an interesting World of Warcraft guild – very proud, very capable, but not unlike its mascot phoenix, it was prone to fiery deaths, and rebirths from the ashes of its former glory. That said, this screenshot represents a site for the third “version” of Sigil after its former death – and, at that point, the phoenix symbolism was intentional.

The design was very straight-forward. At the front, it featured news, a Twitter feed about site status and site updates, recent posts, overall site statics (like how many posts, topics, users), the top posters, and who was last online. |

The site was equipped with a very active, highly organized forum – specialized to the specifics of socialization between WoW players. Players could link their profiles with the Warcraft Armory and have up-to-date character statistics display on their posts. Users could specify custom colors for their text (within a limited range, to preserve visibility), which would register everywhere around the site. |

Complimentary to the forum, there was also a persistent chat, powered by Ajax. An effective and excellent way to waste time. Many members used this while at work or elsewhere – an effective way to chat with your guildmates, without being in the game. |
