Lucid was a World of Warcraft guild, intended to be a solution for friends who had – at the time – splintered into numerous guilds across our server after the first fall of Sigil. It was an organic and healthy guild, with a clear vision. I was appointed its leader – and after the guild was born, I planted myself in front of my computer and began work on its site. From start to finish, I spent about four sixteen hours days on it straight. This site marked a huge development for me as a web designer, because I figured out how to do numerous things I couldn’t do before – straying from cheap, out-of-the-box designs to taking true control over the site and all of its content.

At the front, one had access to the entire site. The relevant menu sections remained static, while purely informational segments were folded underneath a Javascript accordion. |

The Recruitment section featured a fairly apt description of what life was like inside the guild, and provided a look at what roles we needed most. This page led to a form which seamlessly integrated with the phpBB forum software, functioning as a guild application. When submitted, it would automatically author a post with the contents and place it in our Guild Recruitment forum to be reviewed. |

The guild’s About page covered anything the Recruitment section did not. This is actually a very apt description of the guild’s atmosphere and style. Many portions of this page were automated, pulling rank names, officer names, and other pieces of information from external sources to make sure it was always up to date from one centralized source. |

The forums made use of the same Javascript accordion effects, tucking away information that may clutter the page. The boards were very lively, with sections dedicated to the most hilarious images and YouTube videos, discussion forums covering a wide range of nerdy topics, and a frequented Guild Recruitment forum to harass and haze the people applying. Good times all around. |
I also created a wallpaper themed in the guild’s typical blue, white, and black design.
Unfortunately, the guild died late ’09 due to unnecessary guild politics, resulting in a a chasm that the guild never truly healed from. Most of the site’s database was lost, but its files remained intact in a local synchronized copy on my hard drive – which is what you see in the images above. It was later reborn again as Bear Cavalry, but the strain on each member still existed, and our group of friends has never really been whole since.
