I have a friend. She’s a pretty unique person, with relatively unique adventures. Her cadre of friends are interested in where she goes and what she does. To make ends meet, she’s always wanted an easy-to-manage blog, featuring her slice of reality – and while there’s always Blogger or Tumblr, that’s just not how she rolls.
She tasked me to produce a website for her back in ’09. She conceptualized it, and I put it into a storyboard.

The site’s index is somewhat self-explanatory to its purpose. It was intended to be a colorful, high-graphic website featuring mobile uploads and a mini-blog. |
|
The mobile uploads were housed in a jQuery carousel, easy to upload from her mobile or add through her web interface. Clicks produced a lightbox featuring the content. Optionally, the content could be independent of the thumbnail, so she could include a YouTube video or other media instead of just an image. |
 |
There were two text sections to the site. One to function as any site’s typical “about this site” section, explaining who she was and what the site was about. The mini-blog was left intentionally small, showing only one post at a time. She wasn’t always about the blog and preferred to update through media, so blog updates were far between, only featuring roughly a paragraph’s worth of text. |
The site naturally evolved into a different beast, and now lives on with a different layout, focusing on a bit more room for text and less concentration on media.
